The speed picks up
It has definitely only gotten busier at my elementary school. So very many things have occurred in the last week alone, that i could not share them all. But for the larger of things; i quit my job at the learning center due to too many scheduling conflicts in a row. I have taught one of the worst lessons of my life, have had to send a child outside which i do not believe in doing, and have already been bogged down by do to lists and lesson plans. The lesson was a big highlight of this week, as it was on Tuesday and the reason it turned out so horribly, other then the fact that it was handed to me the night before, is that my two supports who are always in the room with me, my partner, and my master teacher, left the room to have a discussion outside. While this was going on my whistler decided to whistle, talk repeatedly out of turn, and ignored my instructions to stop whistling. In all of this i was being observed so i was more nervous then normal and so i sent him outside. I really disappointed myself in this because i do not believe in sending children out of the classroom but i was on such high nerves since i was being observed that i just had to get him out of the room. Along with that, i also clicked on the wrong video, missed the front page of the worksheet, and brought a group of six of the least focused children together in one group. AAAAAHHHH at the end of the lesson, i was exhausted, disappointed and really quite frustrated with myself. From there i have gained a little insight, i think that you should always have a lesson prepared or at least know your topic before the day before it's due, when it comes to behavior management, PREDICT, if someone is usually a bit difficult or "squirrly" during instruction, give them something to do, or a responsibility before hand. But most of all what i learned is that I am student teaching to learn, and you can't learn without making mistakes. so this is only the beginning of my mistakes- hopefully you all can enjoy hearing about them!
